Herbal Nation adheres to accepted handling procedures, as well as a quality policy that focuses on the health and safety of our customers.  We are in the process of working toward GMP compliance our packing and storage facility and to that end have established the following guidelines:

  • PROCESSING PROCEDURES and ASEPTIC CONTROL

    • Exclude from any operations any person who might be a source of microbial contamination of any material used in the manufacture, packaging, labeling, or holding of a dietary supplement.

    • Hands must be washed and sanitized

    • All unsecured jewelry must be removed

    • Use of gloves made of an impermeable material and maintaining them in an intact, clean and sanitary condition and wearing effective hair restraints is mandatory.

    • No storing of clothing or other personal belongings in areas where components, dietary supplements or any contact surfaces are exposed.

    • The eating of food, chewing gum, drinking beverages or using tobacco products in the processing or storage areas is prohibited.

    • All instruments used in the processing and packaging of product are sterilized using alcohol-based solutions, a high heat autoclave, UVC germicidal light or a combination of all three (3).

    • Environmental controls –

      • a HEPA filtration system is used to maintain air purity and minimize atmospheric particulates.

      • UVC Germicidal lighting (100-280 nm) is used in the storage rooms to act as an additional disinfection agent to kill or inactivate pathogens.

 

  • PACKAGING and LABELING

    • All packaging will conform to FDA standards for the packaging and storage of food products and are guaranteed free of fungicide, preservatives, fumigants and plasticizers.

    • All packages are heat-sealed and re-sealable.

    • All packages will include a food-grade desiccant pack to help minimize moisture and inhibit the growth of mold.

    • Labels will clearly identify the product and will be marked with barcodes denoting batch/lot numbers that can be traced back to the corresponding tests.

 

  • TESTING and RECORD KEEPING

    • All of our products are subject to testing and analysis using accepted food sampling procedures. 
    • Samples are tested for multiple microbiological contaminants (E. coli, Salmonella, yeast and mold) as well as bile tolerant gram-negative bacteria count and heavy metals.

    • Certificates of Analysis, Lab Test Results (as well as product sampling and handling procedures) for all products are kept on file and may be requested via email for inspection. Depending on the time of year, it might take up to 72 hours for a response.
